The old age home is situated in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The residents in this facility is from Nepal only and most of them are not having any family member left to take of them in this old age. Some of the residents are left alone by their families because of their financial condition and the health problems of the elder. The organization do not charge any fee from the elders, who do not have anyone to take care of. The people who left their old family members in the facility they donate some funds to the center.
The beneficiaries are from the age of 65 to 85 and above too. The center is lacking with the support staff because of the scarcity of the funds to run the center. As every elder has different set of needs, like some are unable to walk, feed by themselves, bathing or changing clothes etc, they need hands on support. Here comes the need of our dedicated, kinds and supportive volunteers from all across the globe. The volunteers have to play a very vital role here to make them feel like they are deserving to get basic facilities, love and support from this world.
As a volunteer, your duties are as follows:
Helping the elders in daily routine and work like walking, physiotherapy (If prescribed by the doctors), changing the clothes, feeding (If they are unable to do do) etc.
You will be working on the projects from Monday to Friday and weekends are free. Nepal offers a lot to travelers to visit. Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, is a vibrant, noisy city. Packed full of history, palaces and temples, it is also within touching distance of Nepal’s premier attraction: the Himalaya. Kathmandu is home to places to visit like Durbar Square (with temples dating back to the 12th century), Boudhanath Stupa (a world heritage site), and Pashupatinath Temple (the country’s most important Hindu temple, on the banks of the Bagmati river).
Another must-see attraction is the Royal Palace, the site of the infamous 2001 massacre of the Royal Family by the then Crown Prince, and now converted into the Narayanhiti Palace Museum. Kathmandu is also the travel gateway to the rest of Nepal—in particular the tranquil Bhaktapur, the temple-tastic Patan, the Chitwan National Park, and, of course, the Himalaya.
The mountains hold a magnetic attraction for many who visit Nepal, with half of the world’s 8,000 metre mountains found here. The trek to Everest base camp, a two-week trip starting with a nerve-racking flight to Lukla airport, is the most popular mountain activity, whilst the stunningly beautiful Annapurna base camp can be achieved by a 7-10 day trek from Pokhara.
