Project dates: Year round. Saturdays are preferred for arrivals but you can choose any date.

Arrival airport: Kathmandu Airport (Tribhuvan Airport).

Accommodation: Local host family and groups in a youth hostel.

Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).

Airlines: Jet airways, Spice jet, Etihad, Indigo, Go Air, Air India etc. Check for cheap flights.

Vaccinations: Routine Vac, Hep-A and Typhoid

Project Background

YTA is associated with some Monasteries in Nepal. Monastery is a center for learning Buddhism. In these monasteries monks get the education of self realization, patience, teachings of lord Buddha and meditation techniques. These monasteries programs are kind of exchanging the education to each other. The beneficiaries in these monasteries are from various age groups like 03 years to 3.

As a volunteer in  this Monk teaching project, you will primarily work as English instructors in the schools of a Tibetan Children’s Village. In addition to English teaching for 3-4 hours per day, volunteers will assist in other school extra curricular activities and administration. In the evening, you can organize games, drawing, singing, dancing, and other creative activities. Morning and late evening time is free. If you love Buddhism, this is the perfect time to join meditation, rituals, prays, and songs with the Buddhist monks. This project gives you the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in Buddhist religion and lifestyle.

As a volunteer, your duties are as follows:

  • Helping the monks in completing their homework

  • Teaching them English

  • Teaching them geography

  • Art and craft with them

  • Computer knowledge and other IT skills

  • Other outdoor games

  • Extra-curricular activities

  • Helping the monastery staff in taking care of the daily activities

  • Helping in documentation

  • Other duties assigned by the monastery.

You will be working on the projects from Monday to Friday and weekends are free. On weekends you can visit the numerous heritage sites of Jaipur, such as touring the magnificent city itself, painted entirely in pink! Enjoy famous sites such as the Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace), Jal Mahal (Water Palace), Nahargarh Fort (World`s biggest canon- Jaiban), Amber Palace, and Elephant Village. Take time to explore the local culture, cuisine, customs, architecture, and festivals. There’s always something new to discover in Incredible India!

  • Program starts and ends in Jaipur City.

  • Airport meet and greet in Jaipur City.

  • Monday to Friday volunteering, 20-30 hours per week.

  • Weekends are free for sightseeing, camel safari, elephant safari, Taj Mahal etc.

  • A typical work shift can be from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

  • Support: Local Namaste Volunteer Director support 24/7 during placement.

  • Departure: From Jaipur airport.

Application fee: US $99
One time application fee for all Jaipur volunteer program is US $99. The application fee is payable only when we find your application suitable and your skills compatible with the project objectives.

Note: After 12 weeks , every week charge will be USD 150

YTA provides a clean, hygienic and safe place to stay for our volunteers in project destinations. In Jaipur we have a dedicated host family cum camp nearby the projects, having a capacity of 8 volunteers at a time. The house belongs to Mr. GP Gupta (a retired central government auditor). He lives with his wife Mrs. Beena Gupta and their two sons. The house has four separate bedrooms, two of which are fully dedicated to our volunteers. These two bedrooms have four bunk beds in total and can occupy eight volunteers together. The following facilities are available in the house:
