Overview

Project length: Minimum of 1 week to maximum of 24 weeks.

Project dates: Year round. Saturdays are preferred for arrivals but you can choose any date.

Arrival airport: Jaipur Airport (JP).

Accommodation: Local host family and groups in a youth hostel.

Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).

Airlines: Jet airways, Spice jet, Etihad, Indigo, Go Air, Air India etc. Check www.skyscanner.in for cheap flights.

Vaccinations: Routine Vac, Hep-A and Typhoid wwwnc.cdc.gov

Project Background

The orphanage project we run is in Jaipur city also called as “Pink city”. Our project is a girls orphanage run by a Hindu priest lady. She opened this orphanage in 2007 and running this orphanage successfully. There are around 30 orphan girls from 03 years of age group to 17 years of age group. The project management gets funds from individuals, societies, companies and volunteer’s donations. The all girls go to school and involved in some extra curricular activities like Kathak (Classical dance form) etc. This orphanage is running in a small building having 07 rooms. 01 kitchen, separate bathrooms, roof top, prayer room etc.  

The project needs volunteers to help them in a lot of activities related with the management of the orphanage and for the kids overall development though lot of activities and involvement.

As a volunteer, your duties are as follows:

  • Helping in cooking food, cleaning the floor and utensils, serving food etc.
  • Washing the clothes of the kids and bed-sheets.
  • Helping in organize their beds and wardrobes.
  • Teaching general subjects like English, Science, Maths & Geography.
  • Teaching computers and internet.
  • Teaching a foreign language. (Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Chinese etc.)
  • Sports and outdoor activities.
  • Arts and crafts.
  • Music and dance.
  • Other duties assigned by the project management.

You will be working on the projects from Monday to Friday and weekends are free. On weekends you can visit the numerous heritage sites of Jaipur, such as touring the magnificent city itself, painted entirely in pink! Enjoy famous sites such as the Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace), Jal Mahal (Water Palace), Nahargarh Fort (World`s biggest canon- Jaiban), Amber Palace, and Elephant Village. Take time to explore the local culture, cuisine, customs, architecture, and festivals. There’s always something new to discover in Incredible India!

Youth Travel Abroad consists of a dedicated team, whose mission is to empower our youth by providing sustainable projects that bring about real change in local communities. Working in social development enables our youth world-wide to successfully face upcoming challenges in their personal and professional lives. We do not charge for volunteering for these causes. The fee covers services you will receive while working on the projects. The fee is as follows: 

Full Board Services Weekly Fee

If you would like to opt for full board services, provided by Namaste Volunteer, the fee is as follow with the services in the fee are mentioned in the list below.

Application fee: US $99
One time application fee for all Jaipur volunteer program is US $99. The application fee is payable only when we find your application suitable and your skills compatible with the project objectives.

Note: After 12 weeks , every week charge will be USD 150

As your application is approved, you will be required to pay the deposit (Application Fee) US $99 in order to secure your place on project.
No extra charges or hidden fees.

The following services are included in the fee mentioned above;

  • Pick-up from Jaipur Airport.
  • Traditional Indian welcome.
  • A detailed orientation about India, Namaste Volunteer projects, facts about India, and cultural responsibility.
  • Accommodation in Namaste Volunteer host family. 
  • All meals (authentic Indian meals) breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Project visit with Namaste Volunteer coordinator.
  • Resource materials for project use.
  • Weekly market visit to shop for your necessities.
  • Cultural classes such as Hindi class, Indian dress workshop, Yoga class, cooking class

The following services and components are not included in the program fee mentioned above;

  • Air fare.

  • Donation to the project. (Optional donations can be as minimum US$ 10 to US$ 50)

  • Travel expenditure to other locations.
  • All other expenses that are not mentioned in “Full Board services” list above.

Namaste volunteer provides a clean, hygienic and safe place to stay for our volunteers in project destinations. In Jaipur we have a dedicated host family cum camp nearby the projects, having a capacity of 8 volunteers at a time. The house belongs to Mr. GP Gupta (a retired central government auditor). He lives with his wife Mrs. Beena Gupta and their two sons. The house has four separate bedrooms, two of which are fully dedicated to our volunteers. These two bedrooms have four bunk beds in total and can occupy eight volunteers together. The following facilities are available in the house:

Important notes about project;

  1. Open for all to join.
  2. No special background required.
  3. The placement depends on the vacant positions on the project site.
  4. Physical work like cleaning, washing, swiping etc in involved in the activities with teaching and story telling.
